What is in a name?

A Rose

"What's in a name? That which we call a roseBy any other word would smell as sweet."

Shakespeare --From Romeo and Juliet (II, ii, 1-2)

I admire this quote so much . But what's in a name? I believe it's a kind of "impression". The way you see a person and recognize him as a particular person. A name is not just a word or a phrase. I think that Shakespeare wanted to convey that a name is an artificial and meaningless convention, and that she(Juilet) loves the person who is called "Montague", not the Montague name and not the Montague family. However, we live in a world of convention. In other words, we live in a world of metaphor. Names themselves do not that matter but feelings and emotions they provoke have great influence on us. How many English people give their names as "Shakespeare"? What impression do you get behind the name "Abrham Lincon ","Adof Hitlar", "Eistine", "Aung San?
If someone thinks that names are not that important, it should be so before he is given a name. Afterwards, throughout his life, he should keep his name above as a loving present for his parents.

Just food for thought!

By the way, do you appreciate to be called "Satan"?

This is just an initiation of my blog "dreamland" where you can temporarily escape from your complicated life. I intend this blog to be a place of our fellow Myanmars whether they settled abroad or in motherland. To refresh our memories of sweetness by inhauling the fresh air travelling across "mother Irrawaddy" river. The memories of a place where our foreparents rest in peace. I will try to update this blog with photos of several places in Myanmar, arts and literature of Myanmar people and so on.

See you later.
